Jens van Tricht
Jens van Tricht (The Hague-1969), idealist with heart and soul, believes that feminism needs men for a better world, just as men need feminism for a better life. Jens studied Women's Studies at the University of Amsterdam and specialized in the changing social roles and perceptions of men and masculinities. Van Tricht explored the subject of men and masculinities both scientifically and in social practice, connecting women's rights and men's engagement, locally, nationally and globally, on a personal, political and professional level also the personal and the political.
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
According to Van Tricht, transforming dominant images of masculinity and allowing men to become more human is of utmost interest for both men and women, for children, and for the world at large. Van Tricht has been working internationally as a strategic advisor, consultant and trainer on men and gender justice, is founder and director of Emancipator, the first Dutch organization for men and gender justice and member of the Steering Committee of the European MenEngage Alliance.
His book 'Why feminism is good for men' was published in Dutch (2018), German (2019), Egyptian Arabic (2020), and is forthcoming in English.
Emancipator is working to transform masculinities for a better world. We are promoting caring masculinities and engaging boys and men to prevent violent masculinities. The projects range from workshops at school to training and consultancy for organizations to national campaigns and from local interventions to international collaboration and exchange. Networking, capacity building and advocacy are at the core of our work, changing the world one person at a time. Some of Emancipator's international projects are IMAGINE, Breaking the Cycle, EquitTeens and of course our ongoing involvement in MenEngage.
